Dear Parent,
All 3rd-5th graders are invited to participate in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Design Competition we will be holding on Wednesday, June 1st. The competition will be held at Unionville High School, in the cafeteria and will take place from 4-6PM. Transportation to and from the event will need to be provided by parents. Students wanting to participate should form teams of 4 students, and register for the event together. The evening of the competition students will be presented with a challenge and all the supplies needed to compete. They will have time to design, test, and finalize their design before the final competition. Each team with need one parent representative to remain at the high school during the event.
WHAT: STEM Design Challenge
WHEN: Wednesday June 1st
WHERE: Unionville High School Cafeteria
TIME: 4-6PM
NEEDED: Teams of FOUR students and a parent willing to chaperone.
COST: $8.00/per team (due at the door)
NOTE: If your child is being transported home from the event by someone, they will need a dismissal note granting permission.
Please complete the registration form below by May 18th and return it to school. (All forms will be forwarded interoffice mail to Kathryn Markloff and Pocopson)

STEM Competition Code of Conduct
The following Code of Conduct describes standards of behavior applicable to all team members, and is intended to create an environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork.
- Students will behave in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Students will value the ideas and suggestions of all teammates.
- Students will be respectful of others and behave in a way that does not endanger the health and safety of themselves or others.
- Students will be respectful of the facilities, tools, equipment and all things being used by the team.
- Students will not make negative comments about other teams and individuals.
- STUDENTS WILL HAVE FUN!
Suggestions for working together
- Listen to ALL suggestions of group members.
- Talk about suggestions and develop a plan that every member agrees with. The final product should not represent the ideas of only one or two group members.
- Don’t waste time by arguing about ideas.
- Every person in the group should have a job that contributes to the project.
- Don’t change the final product without consulting with the other team members.
