Not all of our students have equal Internet access once they leave the classroom and the district has responded to meet this need in several ways.

Recently our director of technology, Justin Webb, successfully won a grant for us to provide MiFi access for these students by using Kajeet Smartspot technology.  The grant is for one year and we will use this year to evaluate the product's effectiveness.

“Students  do research at home, they participate in various after school activities and they increasingly do homework and submit assignments online,” said Justin Webb, director of technology, Unionville-Chadds Ford. “I want to help those kids in need.”

What is a Kajeet Smartspot?

○ The Kajeet SmartSpot is a portable, 4G LTE MiFi hotspot each student can take home to complete required assignments and homework. It supports the latest, most advanced security and it is compatible with all industry-standard Wi-Fi capable devices across all operating systems. The SmartSpot has a long battery life, providing up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. Each Kajeet SmartSpot comes fully kitted and activated, with a custom, padded carrying case, charger; and instruction manual.

● How will UCFSD use Kajeet?
○ Provide a set number of devices to both Middle and High School libraries for sign out.
○ Use our library check out system to keep track of the devices and the students who use them.

● Is Kajeet a solution for UCFSD?
○ Promote Solution through our Tech Integrators and Media Specialist at MS and HS.
○ Send surveys out to those students who used the device to get feedback.
○ Send out a technology survey to the district in regards to technology and access.
