I hope this finds everyone safe and warm. Jonas certainly hit Chester County with a vengeance despite being a solo act. With 24 hours of snowfall yesterday today we woke up to a winter wonderland. There are pristine white vistas as far as the eye can see in every direction - including school parking lots and sidewalks.
Although we are only halfway through Sunday we have already made a complete decision about tomorrow…and all UCFSD schools are closed. We are 100% sure that it is in everyone’s best interest to call it now.
Now that you know - plan your day and evening without the usual school day preparation. Perhaps you will spend extra time outside having fun in the sun and snow or maybe you will be able to catch a whole movie or binge watch a series. It goes without saying that reading, writing, researching, practicing, thinking, and conversing are highly recommended. There is ample time for indulging in several pursuits. Enjoy.
Our custodial and maintenance folks came in at 6:00 am yesterday and worked until nightfall in the blizzard. They were back at it this morning and are out there now – moving mountains of snow, spreading salt, and clearing pathways. It is an overwhelming job – and we are grateful for their dedication. If you happen to encounter any of them - please let them know they are appreciated.
For those who do not have a poetic view of snow - those who find it annoying, troublesome, and messy - I have a recommendation. Do not move to Paradise Station, Mount Rainer in Washington as it gets 671 inches of snow- on average - every year.
Cordially,
John Sanville
